How to Get Healthy Glowing Skin

Skincare is super important to me because although makeup is amazing, it is mainly used to enhance our beauty only. I am about to turn 25 and in the recent years I have been trying many products / routines to keep my skin glowing and healthy. These are the things that I have been doing and it has really been working for me. I have normal – dry skin and I only get oily during the summer if I am wearing makeup (mainly in my T-zone). Here are my tips and I hope it can help you achieve healthy glowing skin too!

WATER. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. This one is obvious but sometimes we forget. I find it very VERY important to drink a tall glass of water right when you wake up in the morning.

Wash your makeup off EVERY NIGHT. I know this one is hard especially after a long day / long night out but this is a must! I triple wash my face which might sound like a lot of work but we have so much dirt and makeup that accumulates on our face throughout the day. I cleanse with a cleansing oil, use a cotton round with micellar water, then I use my Clarisonic in the shower.

Exfoliate! I used to over do it and exfoliate almost everyday but now I alternate to every other day. It’s also important to not use anything that is too harsh on your skin if you do want to exfoliate every day or it might cause your skin to start breaking out. Exfoliating is important to healthy glowing skin because it takes off the dead skin on your face, unclogs your pores, and makes your skin baby bottom smooth.

Use TONER! I never forget to use a toner because it balances your skin’s PH and also get rids of all the extra dirt that you left behind after all the cleansing. I always get a different brand of toner whenever I am done with one bottle so my skin can try something new. I am currently using the Mario Badescu // Cucumber Cleansing Lotion ($15). It is nondrying (which is always important) and I also love how refreshing it feels. This is my second time repurchasing this product!


Use face masks / sheets weekly! It deserves to be pampered just as much as you do. Nothing hydrates my skin better than using a sheet mask so I always make sure to use it at least twice a week. I also love using treatments depending on how my skin is acting. I usually use ones that target minimizing the pores or purifying.

Here are some of my favorites currently: L’Oréal // Pure-Clay Exfoliate and Refining Treatment Mask ($12.99) & My Scheming Black Mask (from Taiwan). I would use the treatment mask then use the sheet mask and I would wake up with such glowing skin that I can’t help but stare at myself in the mirror a bit longer! I think it’s important to provide your skin with extra hydration after using a treatment mask because they can sometimes dry you out.

MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE. Always moisturize after you clean your face, use your toner (and serum), and before you sleep. Our skin may dry out while we are sleeping because we aren’t drinking any water and sometimes the air may be drying. I like to use something heavier / creamier / thicker at night like a sleeping facial mask.


I am currently using Korres // Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial ($45). I do prefer the Wild Rose one moe because it does feel more moisturizing but this is doing it’s job also.

Facial Mists! I think you can see how important hydration is to achieving healthy glowing skin. Sometimes before I go to bed I would spray my face with a facial mist to give it some extra boost. I like to give myself a spritz throughout the day too to freshen up. I usually go for the Evian // Mineral Water Spray ($18) before I go to bed.
